This article details how Salomon Smith Barney has become the leader in underwriting euro-denominated bonds. In the first three months of 2000, the firm led or jointly managed 16 corporate bond issues valued at 4.9 billion euros.

Stock investments for growth companies are becoming ripe. Since March 2000 value securities outperformed growth securities by 76 percent and conversely, growth securities outperformed value securties by 33 percent. Respectively 78 percent and 39 percent in Europe.

Reversing course on retail

Article Abstract:

Europe is experiencing heavy trading in petroleum stocks, overweight by 33 percent and less trading in retail stocks, underweight by 39 percent. Investment strategies indicate that investing in the underperformer (in this instance retail) and less investment in the overperformer (in this instance petroleum) increased monies 88 percent of the time with a median increase of 6.9 percent.
