Sanyo Electric takes bold steps in restructuring

Article Abstract:

Sanyo Electric Company Ltd. of Japan is initiating a global restructuring, cutting its workforce, closing factories and decreasing its debt. The consumer electronics giant posted a net loss of 171.54 billion Yen for last year and forecasts a loss of 92 billion Yen for this fiscal year. Sanyo Electric Company Ltd. shares are trading for $13.44 on the Nasdaq stock exchange as of yesterday.

Foreign bonds boost Nomura

Article Abstract:

A Nomura Securities executive said that a boom in foreign currency bonds sales at the company is not a short-term phenomenon. The company posted 976.8 billion yen (7.62 billion euros) in foreign bonds for the fiscal first quarter ending June 2003.

Nomura net rises despite decline in stock markets

Article Abstract:

Nomura Securities Co. posted an increase of 41% in its group net profits for the nine-month period to December 31, 2000. The company posted 154.58 billion yen (1.43 billion euros) in net profits for the period.
