Sattel is poised to provide a lift for long-term investors

Article Abstract:

Shin Satellite is planning a $350 million satellite project, to be completed by 2003, with the expectations of company earnings to rise by 400%. Sattel has managed to lease to China Railway Communications more than 20% satellite iPSTAR's capacity, leaving them with 80%. Sattel expects iPSTAR to achieve an internal return rate of 30% or more, breaking even in the first year of operation.

Qualcomm plan is backed

Qualcomm Inc. has partnered with China United Telecommunications Corp. (Unicom) to use Qualcomm technology to develop a wireless technology network that will provide Qualcomm with potential access to a maximum of 70 million users in China. Unfavorable political relations between the United States and China delayed the contract.

KDDI, Unicom forge cooperative technology accord

Article Abstract:

Japanese-based KDDI Corp. and China Unicom Group have signed an agreement with United States-based Qualcomm Inc. to exchange knowledge about mobile Internet services and third-generation wireless technology. In addition, KDDI, will provide Unicom with aid in deploying the technology. The agreement is discussed.
