In the world of private equity, institutional investors finance the market. The secondary players include the private equity partnerships, which are made up of pension funds, insurance companies, banks, corporate investors and others. Banks account for the largest amount of activity in the secondary market, with global banking consolidation driving the market in the last few years. The secondary market is further discussed.

Quiet optimism discerned in the French mid-market

Article Abstract:

Acquisitions and mergers in the French mid-market maintained a healthy momentum, although down on the record-breaking pace set in 2000. The number of completed deal within the euro50 mill to euro500 million range in the first 10 months of 2001 were higher than the number reported in the 1998 or 1999. The key drivers of merger and acquisition activity are discussed.
