Seven weddings and an IPO

Article Abstract:

M&A Partners, the world's largest independent merger and acquisition organization, responded to significant consolidation trends in the European information technology (IT) industry by drawing up plans for a Nordic IT initiative. It approached the owners of two Danish IT distribution companies and two Swedish, two Norwegian and one Finnish distribution company, and was able to agree exclusive sale mandates. It was possible to develop a business plan to merge all seven companies, and a deal was closed within six months with CVC Capital Partners, the largest financial investor in Europe.

A smart move by Torex

Article Abstract:

Tools hire group Torex PLC has successfully diversified into computer services and is actively pursuing a policy of expansion through acquisition. Company chairman John Youngman was keen to acquire Smart Terminals for 4.8 million pounds sterling in Mar 1996. The company has since acquire a number of other computer service groups including Warwick BePoS, Ambridge Business Systems and BIT. Chief executive Chris Moore plans to increase company sales to 100 million pounds sterling by 2002. He is also considering global expansion.

Technology, media and telecommunications industry underwent some fierce battles over the past 18 months. The number of deals involving European information technology, media and telecommunications companies dropped 24% in the first nine months of 2001, versus the year-earlier period. In the software industry, the number of deal rose 80%, according to Regent Associates. A number of deals are discussed. The top 30 completed telecoms deals are ranked by value.
