Smoke without fire

Article Abstract:

IFTE, a supplier of fire training equipment in the UK has entered into a conditional agreement to buy Symtron Systems, a fire simulation specialist in the US, for 8.9 million pounds sterling. The purchase would create one of the biggest live fire training companies in the world. It provides a springboard for IFTE in the US fire training market which will add to the company's international presence. It also brings together a complimentary client base and consolidates the group's position in emerging global markets.

TBI sells part stake in Australian airports

Article Abstract:

UK airports group TBI has sold its 29.1% stake in airports in Darwin, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek to National Australia Asset Management and John Laing Investment. TBI will still remain owner of the 19.9% of the 49% interest bought by Airport Group International (AGI) which TBI acquired in 1999. TBI's stake, which was sold for A$21.65 million, is 22% higher than the price paid by AGI when it bought its stake in the airports.

Vosper acquisition

Article Abstract:

Vosper Thornycroft of the UK has entered into an agreement to acquire the business of Bombardier Defence Services UK as well as its wholly owned subsidiary Airwork, Ltd (BDSUK). BDSUK is a wholly owned unit of Canadian- based Bombardier Inc. It employs 2,500 and has posted profit and turnover of 4.2 million pounds sterling and 55.4 million pounds sterling, respectively, for the financial year that ended Jan 31, 2000.
