So you want to integrate Europe: how do you manage the process?

Article Abstract:

The amalgamation of national company organizations into an integrated European network requires managers to give as much consideration to the process of integration as to the choice of organization form. Both the type of integration achieved, and its success, depends upon the integration process chosen. Research reveals that either rapid or slow integration processes are preferable to medium-speed solutions, and that a preparation phase is vital to success. Important aspects of the integration process are presented, together with a study of the processes adopted by Procter and Gamble Europe.

The nature and extent of corporate restructuring within Europe's single market: Cutting through the hype

Article Abstract:

Many companies were expected to restructure their European operations in order to benefit and respond to threats linked to the Single European Market. The marketing hype associated with this has abated, but the true extent of corporate restructuring in Europe remains unknown. A study looking into corporate restructuring activity is reviewed, dealing in particular with the extent and nature of activity. The changes have not been universal, and some activities, such as procurement, have developed along more global lines, with sales and service activity becoming more localised.
