Search engines fetch bizarre basket of entries for Asia-related queries

Article Abstract:

Majority of search engines used for the Internet do not provide the necessary information about topics in Asia since they are mostly based in the US. Search engines such as WhatSite and Orientation contain information that are not relevant and inadequate about Asian events and personalities. Other examples of search engines claiming they have information about Asia are HotBot, Infoseek and Dogpile and Ask Jeeves.

Some Asian hotels, recognizing that it is important for business travelers to have functional computers, have begun to have staff members help connect guests to the Internet and solve other computer problems. Hong Kong's Mandarin Oriental, for example, provides free computer/Internet help, unless it is necessary to call in an outside technician.
