Spanish pressure groups attack sex, violence on TV

Article Abstract:

There are about 20 pressure groups in Spain which are campaigning to force Spanish TV to withdraw programmes with sexually explicit and violent content. An umbrella organisation, the Federation of Asscociations of Viewers and Listeners, has accused TV channels of being indifferent to the views of consumers. Procter & Gamble, Polygram, Nestle and Camp have all withdrawn their advertising from the Sex Tonight show after receiving cards protesting about their ad support.

Duty free group to use ad campaign to lobby consumers

Article Abstract:

A large scale consumer advertising campaign is planned by the International Duty Free Confederation as part of efforts to prevent the abolition of duty free shopping between European countries. The campaign, which will be devised by advertising agency Bozell, will run in all European Union countries, with release dates being determined by political developments. Particular emphasis is being placed on the socio-economic impact of abolishing duty free in Europe.

Discount stores poised to change Spanish retailing

Article Abstract:

Simago of Spain, a supermarket chain and subsidiary of Dairy Farm of Hong Kong, is planning to increase the number of its Superdescuento discount stores to 53 during 1995, from 36. The discount market in Spain represents 9% of food retail sales but the sector is expected to grow to 15% due to the strong interest in Spain shown by Spanish and foreign operators.
