Still in the frame

Article Abstract:

The UK film industry is currently in a strong position, according to ITC Chmn Lord Lew Grade. He welcomes the tax breaks offered to the film industry in the Jul 1997 budget, but does not really support subsidies for the industry. He feels that films should be made with a relatively large budget, as this gives them more chance of commercial success than if they are made with a very small budget. However, he has no ready formula for guaranteeing a film's success.
