Staples makes unsolicited bid of $3.66 billion for Dutch rival

Article Abstract:

US office supplies company Staples Inc. made an unsolicited offer to buy the Netherlands firm Corporate Express N.V. for $3.66 bil. Although the bid was 34% higher than Corporate Express share value prior to the offer, it was rejected by Corporate Express, stating that it undervalued the firm and its prospects. A higher offer is anticipated, increasing Corporate Express stocks to 7.55 euro.

Xerox Corp. and Eastman Kodak Co., both based in Rochester, New York, are becoming more competitive with each other as they vie for market share . Xerox's new alliance with Fuji Photo Film Company Ltd., a longtime Kodak competitor, is the latest example of this increased rivalry.
