Economics professor Laurence Kotlikoff suggests that tax deferred retirement savings plans may become a tax burden for lower- and middle-income investors during their retirement years. He recommends that investors switch from 401 (k) plans to Roth IRA's, thus paying tax on their savings now instead of later.
