Sulzer CEO quits, lifting shares

Article Abstract:

The chief executive of Sulzer Technology Corp., Fritz Fahrni, will be resigning from his post. The company's share value increased by 3.2% as a result of the resignation. Pierre Borgeaud, the chairman of Sulzer, will take over Mr. Fahrni's post. Mr. Borgeaud said he will make his own succession plans over the next two years. Sulzer posted a 14% drop in net profits to 183 million francs for the 1998 year.

Rieter's first-half net dropped

Rieter Holding AG posted a decline in its net profits for the 2001 first-half. The company posted 66.8 million Swiss francs (43.9 million euros) in net profits for the period, compared to 82.6 million francs in the same 2000 period.

Halma results beat expectations

Halma PLC posted higher than expected results for the 2001 first-half. The company posted a 1% rise in pretax profits before goodwill amortization to 22.7 million pounds (36.3 million euros).
