TV ads are a sales tonic for Indonesian beverage

Article Abstract:

PT Sinde Budi Sentosa's tonic drink brand, Refreshing Solution, is the hottest-selling beverage in Indonesia owing to its unique marketing campaign. The company claims the drink cures ailments including mouth ulcers, sore throat, constipation and a discomfort that locals call internal body heat. Pharmacologists who analyzed the drink's contents say that it contains no ingredient to support claims on its magical effect. Company president Budi Yuwono refused to comment on the formula for the drink's appeal.

Article Abstract:

Singapore Airlines (SA) has begun efforts to outdo its rivals in passenger comfort. The airline is implementing a S$500 million (US$290 million) services and aircraft overhaul. The move is taking place as the Asian economic crisis threatens revenues and forces companies to reduce costs. However, SA claims that the overhaul will prove to be beneficial when the regional economy improves. The airline is not expected to see any benefits in the short-term from its overhaul.
