The firm accounted for a 2.5% share of value sales in the overall German market for textile washing products in 1997, and its Softlan brand is the second best-selling brand in the market, with a value share of 18.9% in 1997, up from 18.3% in 1996. Colgate-Palmolive GmbH, owned 98.1% by US-based Colgate-Palmolive Company, reported net profits of DM28 million in 1995, on turnover of DM641 million, compared to a turnover of DM694 million and net profits of DM694 million, in 1994.
