The Houston Police Dept

Article Abstract:

Schweizer Aircraft Corp will deliver two new Schweizer 333 turbine helicopters to the Houston Police Dept intended to boost the Department's helicopter patrol division. The 333s will be delivered with a full range of role equipment, such as a FLIR Ultra 7000 system, Spectrolab SX-5 searchlight and a full communications suite. With the addition of the 333s, the Department will be able to retire a number of aircraft in its mixed fleet, such as the old Hughes 269Cs and MD369Es. The Houston helicopter unit continues to use three Hughes 269Cs for flight training and backup patrol.

IPTN (Industri Persawat Terban Nusantara)

Article Abstract:

Industrie Pesawat Terbang Nusantra (IPTN) has received a contract to upgrade Indonesian Air Force NAS332 Super Puma helicopters. Funding has been alloted to complete seven aircraft with engine, airframe and avionics improvements for specific roles, such as two in VVIP configuration, two for combat search and rescue, and three as tactical transports. Earlier, the Indonesian government ordered 17 license-built NAS332L Super Pumas from IPTN, however sources indicate that funding problems have resulted in less than a handful being completed .

UK Chinooks rejected

Article Abstract:

Boeing Co's delivery of eight Chinook HC Mk.3 aircraft was rejected by the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). The helicopters, ZH879-904, were ordered in 1995 with role modifications, such as in-flight refuelling probes, forward looking infrared and long range fuel tanks, as well as UK specified weather radar and other avionics. Subject to satisfactory resolution, the company now plans to deliver the first Mk.3 to the UK at the end of year 2000.
