The anatomy of retail internationalisation: Daimaru's decision to invest in Melbourne Australia

Article Abstract:

An analysis of Japanese retailer Daimaru's decision to invest in Australia reveals that the Melbourne investment yielded valuable learning outcomes for the organization and the people running the organization. The study reveals that the company has utilized the learning outcomes by adopting a more cautious approach and more realistic estimates in investing in Australia. The case study also demonstrated that retail internationalisation is composed of three components, including store development, international sourcing and internationalisation of management ideas.
