The exclusive kingdom of Bhutan

Article Abstract:

The desperate measures to maintain cultural sovereignty of Bhutan in the wake of influx of illegal Nepalese immigrants are discussed. The traditions and political aspects of the kingdom that is ruled by King Jigme Singye Wangchuk are highlighted. The country's international relations, economic reforms, social aspects and tourism attractions are also discussed.

'Trifling do-gooders' vs. the U.S. Navy

Article Abstract:

Relief operations in Aceh, one of Asian regions affected by recent Tsunami are discussed. The apathy of workers from United Nations and other international relief organizations is highlighted. In contrast, the United States Navy personnel did a whole lot to assist in this disaster relief despite resistance from the Asian NGO's.

Turkmenistan's president Saparmurad Niyazov plans to build a lake in the middle of the Karakum desert to solve water scarcity problems. However, the environmental risks and impact on the overall regional resources underline the perils of the project.
