The internationalization of American schools

Article Abstract:

Switzerland-based American schools have undertaken several changes in their standard curriculum to better ensure that their students will be prepared enough to attend any university around the world. Despite these changes, such as the addition of International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs in the curriculum, American schools in Switzerland, including the American International School of Zurich and The American School in Switzerland, have opted to maintain their US teaching philosophy. As such, teachers in these schools are more focused on the affective and cognitive aspects of the student's personality development.

IB aims at primary schools

Article Abstract:

The establishment of the Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate Organization has drastically altered the International Primary School of Zurich (IPSZ). Instead of teaching subjects such as history and geography, the teachers at IPSZ help the children learn how to do research and allow them to look for the answers to questions the children themselves come up with regarding the subjects being taught.
