The ostrich's view of the world: One, China will not break up

Article Abstract:

China and India are very large nations which are coming to appear out of place alongside newer and smaller nations. There are ethnic minorities within China, in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Tibet. There are also tensions between central government and provincial governments in more prosperous areas which are linked to control of the economy. Liberalization or recession could lead to separatist tendencies which may be stronger than is generally believed.

In search of satisfaction: what China, and others, can do to find it

Article Abstract:

China's government needs to make extensive reforms to cope with the changes the country is undergoing and problems it faces. The problems include pollution, a change in leadership and poor international relations. Ways in which other nations can help China realize the changes are described.
