The sky's the limit: Paxton Locher's California-inspired apartment and office block, with its feet in Roman London and its head in the sunshine of American Modernism, offers a whole new outlook on urban living on a difficult, narrow site

Article Abstract:

Paxton Locher, architects, were commissioned to build a home for the Jerwood Space, a planned theatre, dance rehearsal space and art gallery. A suggested site in Clerkenwell was long and thin, and could not accommodate the Jerwood brief. However, the practice used its experience in setting up its own projects and took the opportunity to build its first new urban building. The building included an office, three residential floor plates and a penthouse on Clerkenwell Green.
