How a secular society houses its gods

Article Abstract:

The Academia Italiana is holding an exhibition of designs for sacred buildings. A wide diversity of style is represented although few internationally famous architects are included. The designs fail to live up to the claims of the organisers that they are among the most exciting architectural works of the late 20th Century but Tadao Ando's Church of Light and Paolo Zermani's design for Berlin, Germany are striking.
