UK Monopolies and Mergers Commission (MMC) Chmn Derek Morris emphasizes that he is seeking to boost the degree of transparency with which the MMC operates. He hopes to shift towards greater disclosure of non-confidential information, and his aim for the reorganized MMC is fairness and thoroughness. He believes that any effort by anyone to lobby the MMC's commissioners would almost certainly have a negative impact, as the commissioners are extremely protective of their independence.

Malaysia's multimedia super corridor

Article Abstract:

The Malaysian government has instituted a comprehensive multimedia program to encourage investment in and creation of multimedia businesses which are intended to fill an earmarked 270 square mile area. An extensive telecommunications infrastructure will exist with substantial financial incentives intended to attract international businesses. Companies which pass the application process may elect an income tax exemption or an investment tax allowance for capital intensive projects.
