From Chicago to Samarkand

Article Abstract:

Ancient Chinese porcelain vessels with beautiful floral designs have been found at lands far away from their production site in China. Their popularity is illustrated by their presence in Sri Lanka, Turkey and India. Chinese celadon was much prized in the Islamic world and it has been found in India, near Hyderabad. Topkapi Sarayi palace in Istanbul contains large quantities of celadons. It is likely that some of these exports which reached Persian Gulf, came through the silk route that passed north of Taklamakan desert following Tienshan mountain range.
