Tower inquiry to set tone for London's skyline

Article Abstract:

High-rise building construction has been reconsidered since the events of September 11, but in London, which has recently outlined a skyscraper policy, things seem not to have changed so much. Comparing the pros and cons of the upcoming Heron Tower, there seems to be more positive reasons to go ahead with the construction than there are negative reasons to abandon the project.

Kas Oosterhuis of Netherlands recently presented a lecture at the AA called "If you're Not In Real Time Your're Dead." He noted the importance of interactive technologies in efforts to carry out networked response architecture. He believes that conventional architecture is insufficient to handle the new kinetic types.
