Tradition renewed: Levitt Bernstein's addition to Stoke's Victoria Hall welds old and new with practicality and economy

Article Abstract:

The Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent recently reopened after being extensively refurbished and expanded by Levitt Bernstein Associates. The building was originally opening 1888 and features a red-brick exterior which is minimally detailed in the Classical manner. A four storey-addition was built on to the south side of the Victorian building to provide audience amenities, box office and administration. The new block has a semi-industrial look externally, with red cladding to echo the Victorian brickwork.
