Triton submarine-launched missile takes to the water

Article Abstract:

DaimlerChrysler Aerospace subsidiary LFK-Lenkflugkorpersysteme GmbH has developed the Triton fiber-optic guided, submarine-launched anti- helicopter and land-attack missile. The company has completed the initial series of underwater booster tests with Bayern Chemie-produced solid- propellant booster motors at a water depth of 60 meter in a vertical, cylindrical shaft drilled inside a mountain in southern Germany. The tests confirmed that the booster will fire underwater to propel the missile and also showed that the air bubble will take four minutes to reach the surface after firing.
