Two groups vie to build a supersonic business jet

Article Abstract:

Michael Paulson, the son of an airplane executive, and Robert Bass, a billionaire investor, are leading up separate efforts to develop a supersonic business jet that will not produce the sonic boom effect of other jets such as the now-retired Concorde. Though researchers believe that it may not be possible to eliminate the sonic boom completely, the hope is that the new jets will at least be quiet enough to fly over land, thus opening up a wider variety of route possibilities and making the plane highly attractive to business travelers.
