Article Abstract:

Bradford & Bingley has decided to make the head of John Charcol redundant. B&B who bought the independent financial adviser has decided the company did not need two chief executives so Keith Scott of John Charcol was axed. Bradford & Bingley has revamped its own management structure and promoted Ian Darby, Charcol's managing director, to commercial director of B&B with responsibility for distribution. Christopher Rodrigues will remain as chief executive at B&B.

UK: SCOTTISH WIDOWS CEO CONCERNED ABOUT BUY-TO-LET

Rob Golbourn, Scottish Widows Bank's chief executive, is concerned about the risks involved in the buy-to-let market, Golbourn believes that some people are taking out buy-to-let mortgages without advice, sometimes borrowing more than they ought, and that there is a risk of default. Scottish Widows only provides buy-to-let mortgages to customers represented by an independent financial adviser.

UK: CONSUMERS CAN SAVE VIA COMPARATIVE ISA TABLES

Article Abstract:

Consumers can save GBu 55mn over 25 years via the FSA's comparative table of Isas which is due for publication in September 2001. The tables will provide consumers with accurate and impartial information to ensure they obtain the best financial products, says FSA official Christine Farnish. Other comparative tables are due to be published in 2001, focusing on mortgage endowments, savings endowments, investment bonds and stakeholder pensions, with mortgage tables due to be issued in 2002.
