U.K. regulator may require investors to disclose holdings

Article Abstract:

The UK Financial Services Authority is planning to require investors using a certain stock derivative for building up stakes in companies to disclose their holdings to improve transparency. The proposal targets "contracts for differences," in which buyers pay to or receive from sellers the difference in a firm's share price, providing the holders with an economic investment in the firm without direct stock ownership.
