Hyder's earnings surpass expectations

Hyder PLC reported higher-than-expected earnings for the 1998 fiscal year. The company also suggested that it would sell off its Swalec electricity-supply unit. Hyder reported that its pretax earnings for the year ending on March 31, 1999 were 207.7 million pound sterling. This was an improvement from 168.5 million pound sterling from the year before. Analysts had predicted pretax profits of 200 million pound sterling.
