US: Wind power station sales to decrease

Article Abstract:

As a result of the US ending the subsidies for wind power stations by the turn of the year, one of the world's three largest wind power markets will decrease significantly. As no decision was reached on a prolongation, the subsidies will be ended on January 1, 2002 and can be resumed at the earliest after four months. Earlier in similar situations the American politicians have decided on retroactive subsidies, but according to Christian Kjar of the trade association for the wind power industry not many dare to budget for this to happen again. As a result Danish producers now abandon their plans to set up production in the US.
