US research goes high-tech

Article Abstract:

Oscar Dyson is the new fisheries research vessel for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The ship, which is designed to carry out fish stock assessment, physical and biological oceanography, life history, habitat studies and so on, is decided to operate from the Alaska Fisheries Science Center at Kodiak, Alaska. The designing and construction process and the features of the ship are described.

Herring king recalls his heydays

Eric Jacobsen, a fisherman from Faroe Islands has recently written his autobiography. Jacobsen is famous as herring king of Faroe Islands. His sons, Samal, Petru and Eiler are now carrying on from where he left. Samal Jacobson is now the skipper of trawler Kunborg and he describes his fishing expeditions.
