Ukraine teams with GIAT to regun T-72 with new 120mm smoothbore system

Article Abstract:

GIAT of France and the Ukranian Kharkov Morozov Design Bureau are working together on the development of a new 120-millimeter-smoothbore-gun-equipped T-72 tank variant. The 120-millimeter smoothbore measures 7 meters long and is equipped with interior ballistics that complies with the standards set by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. The 120-millimeter smoothbore also has trunnion and breech configurations, which enables them to serve as an alternative for the 125-millimeter T-80UD smoothbore gun.

DCN and WASS sign deal to develop heavyweight torpedoes

Article Abstract:

Whitehead Alenia Sistemi Subacquei (WASS), DCN and DCN International have signed an exclusive, long-term cooperation agreement to develop, produce and market heavyweight torpedoes. Initially, DCN and WASS will focus on the final development of an advanced torpedo to be marketed as the BlackShark/iF21. They will then proceed to developing the new torpedo, which will be equipped with AgO/al battery technology and feature WASS- developed Astra acoustic head.

Multinational fuzing attacks booming market

Article Abstract:

Societa Esplosivi Industriali of Italy have teamed up with three US companies to market ordnance fuses worldwide. The alliance, called Team Fuzing, has already landed its first contract, an order from Alenia Marconi Systems for FMU-139 electronic impact/delay fuses for integration into the Precision Guided Munition series of air-to-surface weapons. The alliance projects a worldwide market for about 35,000 FMU-139s.
