Uniwide is looming large, but prospects may be slim

Article Abstract:

Retail franchiser Uniwide Holdings of Manila, Philippines, has attracted attention because of takeover reports that prompted the company's shares to end on Feb 6, 1998 88% higher than the week before. The shares ended on Feb 13, 1998 at 81 centavos, a drop of 9%. Though shares appear to be cheap, analysts claim that interest in Uniwide is not likely to remain in light of the company's radically slowed cash flow.
