Unravelling

Article Abstract:

The British textile industry faces problems arising from a strong pound sterling, a drop in demand, and variations in input prices. The industry ranks sixth among employers in Britain and Britain and Italy are the main employers in this industry in Europe. Manufacturers elsewhere often have their own brands, while the retailer, Marks and Spencer, is dominant in Britain. Marks and Spencer is asking companies that supply it to move production abroad. Mergers may not provide a solution, and there is overcapacity in the industry.
