She was one pupil in 450

Article Abstract:

Labour Member of Parliament and Former Oxbridge Graduate Maria Eagle points out the UK higher education system strengthens social inequality in education. She wants the all universities to be included in the central admissions system. Eagle recounts how, as a schoolgirl from a comprehensive school, she experienced feeling severely disadvantaged at Oxford University. Out of 9,350 applicants, in 1998, just 4,249 were from state schools. Eagle suggests the universities need to actively address the problem of too few state school students applying for admission.

Microseimicity and strain pattern in northwestern Greece

Article Abstract:

A seven week microearthquake experiment conducted in Epirus, Akarnania and the Ionian islands of western Greece show that a large-scale mechanism is responsible for the geodynamics of both northwestern and southwestern Aegean. Almost 600 earthquakes ranging between the magnitude of 2 and 4.2 were located during the experiment. However, no event was deeper than 40 kilometers, and the pattern of quakes did not relate to a single particular known fault.
