Visual interactive modelling: a pictorial simulation specification system

Article Abstract:

Visual Interactive Modeling (VIM) can be used to support user-specialist interactions in a research system that uses pictorial graphics to specify a simulation model. VIM enables users to directly draw their ideas on a computer screen without translating the mental model through specialists' thoughts into a formal structured form. A built-in rule-based modeling mechanism updates model logic and ensures logic completeness while monitoring unstructured user activities during the construction process.

Symbiotic systems: exploiting human creativity

Article Abstract:

Symbiotic systems fill the gap left by computers which cannot solve complex problems with visual representations. Such systems, which mimic the human ability of creative visualization, consists of a human domain expert and a computer software to support the creative visualization process of the human domain expert. To date, research has shown that object-oriented programming provide an amenable environment to symbiotic system development.
