Volkswagen AG?s net profit for the 2003 first quarter dropped 68% from the previous year?s same time period. VW?s troubles are blamed on the introduction of luxury cars, which proved hard to market, and the company also experienced problems with customer-satisfaction and product recalls.

VW rethinks its high-testosterone ads

Volkswagen AG of Germany has had to pull billboard advertisements in the United States because of the use of the word "cojones" in print. The adverts were aimed at the Hispanic market and the word is a colloquial turn on "gutsy." However, to the Spanish-speaking community the term has a vulgar connotation and complaints were noted.
