WTO membership bid fuels opportunity, frustration

Article Abstract:

China's legal and business sectors are being forced to adopt a rules-based system in order to meet requirements for its proposed World Trade Organization membership. System changes include revamping long-held and often arbitrary regulatory policies, and putting aside trade restrictions that traditionally forced other countries to buy Chinese goods before they could sell on the Chinese market.

Internet start-ups change the way China does business: young entrepreneuers are spreading modern management ideas and business cultures

Article Abstract:

The management styles of Internet startups Soim.com and Eachnet.com are compared. Young Chinese who went to college abroad, such as Eachnet's Haiyin Tan, are bringing relaxed corporate cultures to China. China-educated Chen Rui of Soim.com alienated some employees when he moved to a more traditional business structure. When Chen started wearing suits, four technical workers moved to Eachnet.
