When fiduciary duty's to be done

Article Abstract:

Ethical investment has become increasingly important in the United Kingdom. though they have little impact on financial markets as a whole. Pensions minister, John Denham, has suggested that pension funds should state what impact ethics may have on their investment principles. There would be a major impact on the market if pension funds began to use ethical principles. Ethical funds have tended to perform worse than index trackers, but this may be linked to their focus on smaller firms, which have tended not to perform well, and because pharmaceuticals, which have performed well, tend not to be included.

Boomtown

Article Abstract:

There has been an increase in mutual fund sales in Japan, and growth industries such as telecoms and the internet account for some of the most popular fund specialisms. Supply is responding to this rise in demand, more more stock offerings. Companies can be floated more easily following reforms. The economy should benefit in general from this development, and more investment is becoming available for start-up companies in Japan, some of which is coming from the US.
