Where's the ideal home

Article Abstract:

The advent of the single European market has effected criteria for selecting European sites for capital investments. Decisions, formerly based on national considerations, increasingly have to factor in region-based variables. Planning for capital investments is currently difficult since corporate planners do not know the future shape the single European market will take, whether it will focus on urban and industrial centers, linguistic markets, regional governments, or continue in the framework of national markets. While the future promises a homogenous market, planners are still faced with a diverse, fragmented market that is constantly changing. The present is characterized by European Community members offering incentives for investment, and the future will probably be characterized by competition among trans-national regions for capital investment.
