Yacht velocity prediction using mathematical programming

Article Abstract:

A mathematical programming and optimization modelling system for yatch sailing applications has been developed. The use of numerical optimization has improved the design of the software package though real-life applications should consider the model's weaknesses and other factors. The software can be used for determining optimum sailing tactics and determining trade-offs during the yatch design process.
