Pacific Century Regional Development said the mainland's retailing market is growing and it is not difficult to enter. However, investors should bear some points in mind: 1) Foreign investors should do research on their own before entering the mainland's retailing market. 2) Foreign investors should have a long-term viewing. 3) Purchasing power is rising, such as the sales of TV sets and conditioners in Beijing increased by 100% and 300% respectively in the first quarter of 1998. *
