Brandywine Realty expands holdings in $612 million deal

Article Abstract:

Brandywine Realty Trust, a real estate investment trust, will acquire for $612 million 68 office and industrial properties of Atlantic American Properties and Commonwealth Atlantic Properties, both affiliates of Lazard Freres Real Estate Investors LLC, an arm of investment banking company Lazard Freres & Co. The transaction, which involves 5.6-million-sq-ft of space, is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 1998. The properties, which are 94% leased to over 500 clients, will help Brandywine gain operating efficiencies. Brandywine will issue Lazard Freres $135 million in convertible preferred securities as part of the deal.
