Collectibles business adopts Austin Powers; with an exclusive movie-prop replica license, the Bucks company hopes for a blockbuster

Collectible Concepts Group Inc (Chalfont, PA) is hoping Austin Powers' popularity will buoy sales of its film collectibles. CCG acquired an exclusive movie-prop replica license for both Austin Powers films from Time Warner's New Line Productions Inc. CCG has a staff of 10, and has produced replicas of over a dozen Austin Powers items, including the Shaguar car. CCG gained over $100,000 in revenues from its James Bond collectibles line in both 1997 and 1998.

The business of selling used rather than 'prime,' unused silicon wafers is thought to be between $50 million and $100 million per year because the recycled wafers cost about one-fourth as much as new, and have many applications. The market segment is growing faster than the market for new wafers.

Hoping slipcovers cover the country

Allentown, Penn.-based Sure Fit Inc., which is the largest US manufacturer of ready-made slipcovers for couches and other furniture, reported a rise in revenues from $40.9 million in 1996 to approximately $80 million in 1999. The company has benefitted from renewed interest in home decorating.
