Feb. job gains are less than expected

Article Abstract:

The US Department of Labor reported that the economy had added 21,000 positions in February 2004, far fewer than the 125,000 predicted by economists while the unemployment rate remained stuck at 5.6 percent. The report reveals that 18,000 jobs were added in securities since August 2004, but 22,000 were lost in credit intermediation and mortgage banking over the same period.

DirecTV to pay Pegasus $938 million for its subscribers

Article Abstract:

DirecTV Group Inc. reached an agreement to acquire the satellite assets of Pegasus Communications Corporation of Bala Cynwyd for $938 million, including $875 million in cash. Pegasus is the exclusive reseller of DirecTV's service in the rural areas of 41 states since the 1990s.
