PGW staggers beneath its debt

Philadelphia Gas Works' (PGW) debt is expected to exceed $1 billion before 2001 is over. The 41% increase in debt since 1990 arises mostly from long-term bonds issued by PGW, which will cost it some $90.9 million in interest payments in fiscal 2001.

Indicted PGW aide surrenders

New hike proposed for Phila. gas users

The Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) will probably request an additional rate hike today. That, combined with earlier requests, would raise the average customer's annual bill almost 27%, from $1,000 to $1,267.
