Pa. leads country in school strikes

Article Abstract:

The state of Pennsylvania has more teacher strikes than any other US state, with 10 strikes since August 1999. A report released by the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers said that strikes may be more common since walkouts of teacher are not illegal in Pennsylvania.

Liacouras quits Temple post

Article Abstract:

The long-time president of Temple University, Peter J. Liacouras, has announced that he will resign. The president, who held the post for 18 years, will focus on raising the remainder of the university's new $100 million endowment during his remaining 199 days on the job.
