Social security benefits to go up $25

Article Abstract:

The American government on 19th October 2004 announced that the social security recipients would get an average of $25 more in their monthly checks, from next year, because of a 2.7 percent increase in the annual cost-of-living. Social security is the main income source for the most American senior citizens, with 9 out of 10 in the age group of 65 receiving benefit.

United States drug import picture is changing

Article Abstract:

The Food and Drug Administration allows United States residents to buy individual prescription drugs from other countries but it forbids the sale of foreign drugs for commercial purposes. Resistance to reimportation of drugs from Canada is waning and as resistance weakens, the focus is on the way in which it might be implemented.

IRS shifts from 'no excuses' to 'let's make a deal'

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has changed its inflexible tax policy to one that is more accommodating to taxpayers. Liberalized IRS debt settlement rules have resulted in taxpayers paying an average of twelve cents on the dollar in 2000.
